Beneficiaries of FG's Conditional Cash Transfer in Imo are now receiving payment.
The disbursement was flagged off in Ikeduru LGA by the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Hajia Sadiya Umar Farouq, in the presence of the Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prof. Placid Njoku and Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajiuba.
The recipients are determined by Community Based Targeting, a component of the Household Uplifting Programme of the Federal Government.
The number of recipients varies according to the degree of perceived vulnerabilities in each community.
According to the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, the President, Muhammadu Buhari, doubled the monthly payment from Five Thousand Naira to Ten Thousand Naira with a mandate that beneficiaries be paid two months upfront.
The 121 beneficiaries in Iho Ward were the first to cash out.
Hajia Farouq charged them to use the money to care for their families during this period of the COVID-19 pandemic.
For his part, the Deputy Governor Placid Njoku thanked the President and promised to ensure that the money gets to the right hands.
Beneficiaries who spoke to IfeanyiCy Blog praised the Federal Government for the grants.
