Imo state government, IfeanyiCy blog learnt had given the sum of N10,000 to each of the 24 persons (staff and guests) quarantined at Fancy Hotel, road 7 Umuguma Housing Easte, Owerri as transport fees back home after testing negative of COVID-19, observed to be asymptomatic within a period of 14-days before they were released to their respective families.
The government of Imo State who feed the staff and guests within the period of quarantine, also tested family members of Chief Aguwa Osuagwu from Obohia in Ahiazu Mbaise LGA who had been under quarantine before freeing them. Chief Christinaus Aguwa Osuagwu had returned from South Africa within the period, Coronavirus pandemic is ravaging the world.
On return to Nigeria he visited his Hotel (FANCY HOTEL) Owerri and family compound at Ahiazu Mbaise before he developed illness. He was said to have been rushed to a hospital in Abuja after refusal to isolate himself as instructed by National Center for Disease Control, NCDC, and reportedly died at Abuja days after, on what federal ministry of Health referred to as 'severe underlying illnesses'. Chief Osuagwu is said to have died of lungs and heart complicated ailments.
Information had it that Chief Osuagwu had a lung battle with complex heart condition and lung failure after he was shot in the chest sometime around 2012.
IfeanyiCy blog also learnt that by the time Chief Aguwa visited Owerri he did not have Coronavirus and that his two relatives in his village he stayed with during his visit have all tested negative to the virus. Also his wife and children who were with him and the driver who drove him around have all tested negative to the virus
His probable case due to travel history and reported death raised dust and panic among Imo populace. In a proactive measures, Imo state government did all within her power to ensure the safety of her citizens.
Meanwhile, Governor, Hope Uzodinma led administration had equally fumigated Fancy Hotel inline with Imo government aggressive approach and precautionary measures against COVID-19.
