A non-governmental organization, KOR FOUNDATION has built and donated a borehole water system to Obazu Community Grammar School Mberi Mbaitolu, Imo State and it was commissioned on Monday December 10th, 2018.
According to the Nigerian co-ordinator of Kor Foundation Mr. Uchenna Benneth, during the handing over of the community project said the project became necessary for the organization as an extension of their service to humanity.
Kor Foundation founded by Mr. Stanley Onwuakor, an indigene of Urualla Ideato North LGA of Imo State but resident in the United States of America started operation in 2010 with support from other partners in meeting the United Nations goal on eradication of poverty and to ensure that every child is given basic but quality education.
The organization which focuses on supporting underprivileged children in Africa by providing educational materials to schools of underprivileged communities, improves the conditions of their educational facilities, tutors primary and secondary school students in order to impact knowledge, develop their creative skills necessary to attain academic, social and economic achievement.
In keeping to  the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 2030 which focus on alleviating poverty by promoting quality education for children in underprivileged communities of Africa, Kor Foundation took it upon themselves to drill, built and donate a water borehole to Obazu Community Grammar School, Mberi Mbaitolu LGA.
Commissioning the water borehole project, His Lordship the Rt. Rev. Chukwuma C. Oparah (Ph.D) , Bishop of Anglican Communion Diocese of Owerri, commended Kor Foundation for their enormous humanitarian services in underprivileged communities.
The alumni members of the school also showed gratitude to Kor Foundation for making water available in the school. The Principal of the school in his speech commended the Nigerian co-ordinator of Kor Foundation, Mr. Uchenna Benneth for pursuing the goal of the organization with total commitment and zeal to improve on the wellbeing of the poor amongst us. He also appreciated the founder of Kor Foundation Mr. Stanley Onwuakor and the sponsor of the water project Hon. Sir and Lady Sunny Ibe for their charitable kindness towards humanity.
Responding, Mr. Uchenna Benneth, the Nigerian co-ordinator of Kor Foundation said, “We in Kor Foundation are committed to improving quality of life in underprivileged African communities, we want all Nigerians, regardless of race, creed or circumstances to be happy and live a healthy and better life through provisions of laudable services in health, youth and women empowerment, water, sanitation and hygiene and improvement on education systems; inputs and outputs.
He however charged the school authority to ensure that the use of the project is closely monitored and maintained for the present and generation of the pupils yet to come to benefit from.
“This is not the first time Kor Foundation is undertaking a humanitarian community project, in addition to building a borehole; Kor Foundation has:
• Built and equipped a library for Ehume primary school, Obowo, Imo State.
• Registered senior secondary school examination for underprivileged children at Ehunachi Comprehensive Secondary School.
• Donated band set to Ehume Primary school, Obowo, Imo State.
• Given scholarship to underprivileged students.
• Regular book, school uniform and stationery supply to students from underprivileged communities.
• Organized essay writing competition and quiz for students in the schools we partner with.
• Structure upgade and other educational facilities improvement ongoing at Urualla community school, Ideato.
• Trained students on basic computer programs and other relevant skills.
In line with UN Sustainable Development Goal 4, by 2030, the organization aims to identify and train more than 20 000 children with relevant skills and also improve their computer knowledge. Improve school enrolment by providing scholarships, school supplies and uniforms to more than 20 000 underprivileged children, also by organizing quiz and essay writing competition for students. Build and upgrade educational facilities with the target of reaching more than 1 000 underprivileged communities in Africa.
