Ezinihitte Mbaise born lawmaker and member of the Nigeria House of Representatives, Hon Tony Nwulu representing Oshodi-Isolo 11 Federal Constituency, Lagos State under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in 2015 has today Tuesday, 24th July, 2018 at the floor of the House of Representatives defected to the United Progressive Party, UPP.
Announcing his decision to jettison his former party through a letter made available to Ifeanyicy.com, Hon Nwulu who initiated and sponsored the widely acknowledged and accepted "NOT TOO YOUNG TO RUN BILL" assented to by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, altering the constitution of the federal Republic of Nigeria after a concurrence by the two chambers of the National Assembly and 36 States Assembly, reads:
"NOTICE OF DEFECTION
Dear Speaker, House of Representatives
Rt Hon Yakubu Dogara
"I write most respectfully to inform you and indeed the leadership of this Honourable house to take notice that effective from today 24th July, 2018, I have resigned my membership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, vide a letter addressed to the PDP chairman, Oshodi Isolo Local Government Area, Hon Sunday Olaifa."
"I wish therefore to by this letter convey my membership of the United Progressive Party, UPP and to be accorded all rights and privileges emanating therefrom."
"This defection is as a result of irreconcilable conflicts in my party and in accordance with section 68.1(g) of the 1999 constitution as amended."
The Deputy Chairman House of Representatives Committee on Capital Market and Institutions said "my choice of UPP is after due scrutiny and consultation as UPP remains the only party that will give young Nigerians the opportunity they seek."
"As you know, I am running for the governorship seat of Imo State in 2019, and I believe this is the right platform for me," Nwulu told Ifeanyicy.com
