Dr. Ikedi Ohakim has said that Imo people do not need an inexperienced  person for governor in 2019, noting that Imo people need someone who has been tested and trusted with governance to be able to perform and salvage the situation in the state.

In a statement on Sunday, Ohakim who is running for the 2019 governorship of Imo State for one term only under All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) said that the state needs a credible and experienced leader for governor in 2019.

He assured that he was presenting himself for the 2019 governorship in order to recover the futures of the children, adding that he is the most experienced hand.

"For my children, for your children, for the survival and future of Imo State, I, the most experienced hand, Ikedi Godson Ohakim, present myself to you. Let's join hands and fix Imo for our future generations. Let's take Imo State back to the Hands of God", he said.

According to him: "When you go to the hospital over a serious health issue, you don't ask for a student doctor rather you look for the senior consultant.

"When you go to the mechanic's workshop for an engine problem, you don't ask for the apprentice whose training is limited to losing knots and bolts at the instruction of his master, rather you seek the attention of the Head Engineer".

He added that "The same applies in every aspect of our lives if we want the best. You always look for the person with experience, not the greenhorn.

"Even during job recruitment, most firms demand experience while others stress how important experience would be to your chances of getting the job. The firms are interested in results not sentiments, and that's why they excel. Once sentiments, no matter its coloration, comes to play, that firm's fortunes start to dwindle".

Ohakim stressed that "Imo State needs credible and experienced hands to recover from the infrastructural, social and economic mess we find ourselves in today", assuring that "getting Imo State to work again takes more than sentiments and it would not be a walk in the park. It needs somebody who already knows where everything is and how to recover our lost and misappropriated commonwealth, not a learner who will spend three years trying to understand what he is doing at our collective detriment".
