After several years of reigning as king of highlife music in Nigeria at a time when highlife was the in thing in music, highlife music maestro, Sir Victor Uwaifo, continues to pull clout even though most of his contemporaries have waned with the dynamism characteristic of the Nigerian music industry. With a wealthy pedigree and a master in the music game, Victor Uwaifo seizes every opportunity to advise the young generation of artiste irrespective of how they receive it. Sir Victor Uwaifo In a chat with Showtime, the highlife music maestro spoke about the lifestyle, quality and kind of music churned out today by young Nigerian music acts. “I’ve always said it that if I had lived in this time or if I were born into this age, probably I would behave like them. They are living the time, implied acts of their existence; in my time, I lived according to the implied acts of my existence, but then if I were born into this age, I would have been able to strike a balance between the past and the present; because you have to draw from the past to advance the cause of the future”, he said.
