Neymar left Barcelona in controversial circumstances to join PSG and while many will believe the flamboyant playmaker will have only bad things to say about his former employers, the reverse is the case as revealed by Coutinho.
While speaking to reporters at the Nou Camp during his unveiling on Monday, Coutinho revealed Neymar only had good things to say about Barcelona when they spoke to each other and said he also received advice from ex-Liverpool team-mate Luis Suarez.
He said: ”I spoke to Neymar and he has nothing but good things to say about the team, the city and the dressing room.
“I also spoke to Luis Suarez and also Paulinho, and they also had good things to say.
Coutinho also claimed that his international teammate has been one of the first to congratulate him on his move.
“Neymar congratulated me and told me there is an incredible team here," he said at a press conference following his unveiling.
Coutinho was also put on the spot if he hoped his presence at the club would now lead to fans forgetting about Neymar, but he dismissed such a notion.
“I play with Neymar for Brazil and we’ve been friends for years," he continued.
“We’re different players. He is obviously a great player but we have different qualities.”.
