Aboh Mbaise,  Imo State born former Deputy Speaker of Nigeria House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, KSC, was excited to honour the invitation of His Lordship, Most Rev. Augustine Tochukwu Ukwuoma, the Catholic bishop of Orlu Diocese, at the 2017 "Iri ji cultural festival" organised by the Diocese.

The significant of this cultural festival is that the church utilises this period to pray for farmers, bless the land for the next farming season, and take permission from God before harvesting.

The 2015 governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ihedioha  noted that Nigeria and the world at large deserves peace to grow. He urged the church to continue to promote peace between one another. On Imo and Nigeria, He said, "it's my prayer that in 2019, God will give Imo people the leaders they deserve. Nothing can really stop that this period", as he prepares to challenge for the Imo State seat of power in the 2019 gubernatorial election.
