The non elective Congress of the All Progressives Congress (APC) held in Imo State last Saturday, has further deepened the crisis within the ruling party.
The congress which was held across the states in Nigeria to produce 3-man delegates to the National Convention, took another dangerous dimension in the state.
Our sources reliably gathered that the congress further polarized the party in the state with different political gladiators producing lists of their own delegates.
Governor Rochas Okorocha and his loyalists produced a list, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume and other notable leaders of the party had their lists.
Our sources further revealed that the exercise in Imo State last weekend, saw Isiala Mbano Local Government Area with two Factional Chairmen, that is Nze Obinna Onuegbu (OMO) and Mr Julius Asagwara produced different lists.
From the Governor's faction (Omo led Excos) had Hon. Bar. Simeon Iwunze from Ugiri/Okafor ward, Chief TonyBlack Nduka from Obollo ward and Mrs Prisca Durueke from Osuachara ward.
Araraume's camp led by Asagwara, produced Bar. Emma Nwosu (Amaraku ward), Chief Azubuike Ekwegh (Osuama/Anara ward), and Lady Ihekire(Ibeme ward).
In Ideato North local government Area, two Factions emerged. They include those loyal to the Imo State organizing Secretary of the party, Dr Clement Anozie and the LGA Party Chairman, Nze Luke Ekwueme.
Other LGA's that had controversial issues include Nwangele Local Government Area where different leaders are laying claims of having lists of authentic delegates.
It is revealed that within Okorocha’s camp, there are about five different blocks headed by the Governor's Appointees.
Tension seems to have enveloped members of the party in Ngor Okpala as some stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress are said to have described the exercise as impunity and lack of internal Democracy in the party.
The likes of Secretary to Imo State government, Sir George Eche, Dr T.O Ekechi former Commissioner in the state and member of Buhari Presidential campaign team during the 2015 general election, Miss Uchechi Okereafor in one side fighting it out while Attorney Mathew Nwogu, Okenze Sylvester Obinna, Ken Abiriogu, Emeka Nwofor, Hon Obinna Egu, Greg Egu, Asoluka Njoku are the other side fighting.
Same developments were witnessed in Owerri West LGA, Oru East LGA, Ohaji Egbema LGA, Owerri North LGA, Ikeduru LGA, and Orlu LGA.
The shameful development according to some Chieftains in the party who opted for anonymity said the actions is capable of causing ripples in the party that may cause them elective psoriasis come 2019.
