The Honourable member representing Ohaji-Egbema State Constituency in Imo State House of Assembly, Hon Emmanuel Orie has reacted to the alleged involvement of Youths of his State Constituency of Ohaji-Egbema to Owerri Ekeukwu Market crisis.

The Honourable member while commiserating with the families who lost their loved ones and properties, also demand that the molestation and assault on our people trading in owerri market is uncalled for and should be stopped forth-with.

Hon Orie stated that Ohaji/Egbema and owerri have had a cordial and historical relationship and will not allow this relationship to jeopardized.

He reiterated that any indigene of Ohaji/Egbema that was involved in the exercise,he/ she must have participated in official capacity as an employee of the government.

Speaking after a meeting with leadership of the local government Area, the Peoples Democratic Party member made the following statement:

"The leadership of ohaji/Egbema has met on the 29th August 2017 and reviewed event as it affects the demolition of Eke Ukwu Owerri market.                                                                                  Also reviewed was a news report in channels Television of 28th August and AIT program of 29th August in which one alleged victim of the demolition exercise and Hon.Uche Onyeagucha mentioned the youths of Ohaji/Egbema as being parties to the demolition that was carried out by the state government.

The leadership wish to state as follows:              (1)That the good and law abiding people of ohaji/Egbema did not sponsor or encourage any group or youth body to embark on the demolition of Eke Ukwu owerri market.

(2)That Ohaji/Egbema and owerri have had a cordial and historical relationship and will not allow this relationship to jeopardized.

(3)That our sons and daughters live, work and do businesses in owerri VISA-VIS, hence we cherish this relationship.

 (4)That the recent demolition of Eke Ukwu owerri market was purely a state government policy and exercise.  

(5)That any indigene of Ohaji/Egbema that was involved in the exercise,he/ she must have participated in official capacity as an employee of the government.                                  

 (6)That we are also aware of the involvement of government Agencies such as Imo Entraco,civil guards,Airforce,etc that were also part of the exercise.

 In conclusion the entire Ohaji/Egbema people commiserate with the families who lost their loved ones and properties.We demand that the molestation and assault on our people trading in owerri market is uncalled for and should be stopped forth-with.
