A 3-storey building located at No.21 Saka Oloro Street, Ilufe road in Alaba International Market, Ojo area of Lagos has collapsed.
The structure, which consists of 8 blocks of flats, collapsed early Tuesday, according to the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA).
The General Manager of LASEMA, Mr. Adesina Tiamiyu, confirmed to Daily Trust that no live was lost and nobody sustained any injury before, during and after the incident.
He said investigations conducted at the scene revealed that the building had shown some signs of being distressed.
“No lives lost nor injuries sustained. Recovery operation is ongoing by LASEMA, LABCA and other stakeholders to prevent any secondary incident of full or total collapsed that may lead to unnecessary loss of lives,” he added.
The LASEMA boss said residents of the 3-storey had evacuated the building since yesterday evening when it started giving signs of imminent collapse.
He said the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LABCA) has sealed the building, adding that “operations are ongoing for retrieval of personal properties of the saved occupants.”
