The ongoing demolition of fences and structures around the shell Camp quarters which commenced on Wednesday by groups reportedly working for Imo State government led by Governor Rochas Okorocha is causing ripples and has pitted residents which Includes the Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education, National Museum Owerri among others against government officials.

Ifeanyicy.com gathered that some officials of the state Government accompanied by armed youths numbering over sixty allegedly stormed the shell Camp quarters, home for the old citizens, mostly professors who had served the citadel of higher learning (AIFCE) for over 35 years at the early hours of Wednesday 28 June, 2017 and carried out the demolition.  In the process they pulled down electricity pools and trees in the premises.

Residents expressed regret over what they described as a monumental loss to the old retirees, calling for caution and adequate compensation to all those affected by the demolition exercise.
