Yesterday Saturday 22nd July, 2017 at the Imo State Trade and Investment Center, Owerri , the staff, management and Students of Mountain Crest International School, No3 Eugene Opara Cresent, Area H, Udenwa Estate, New Owerri held the school's 2017 step-up graduation ceremony in Owerri, Imo State capital amidst fanfare.
The colourful ceremony which was put in place by the school proprietress and Executive Director, Deaconnes Akudo Juliet Okafor and her team in order to celebrate the graduating students, with the theme, "Outstanding Champions" attracted the presence of personalities from all walks of life but not limited to Imo First Lady, Nneoma Nkechi Okorocha, Dr. Eberechukwu Uneze and Hon. Jasper Azuatalam who are the Executive Secretaries of AMCON and NSITF respectively, along with some Canadian partners of the school.
In attendance also were, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Ugwumba Uche Nwosu, who happens to be the Chairman of the occasion but was ably represented by Dr Tony Anwukah, children of the Governor of IMO state, Former Secretary to Imo State government, Sir Jude Ejiogu, Hon. Members of Nigeria House of Representatives ; Engr. Obinna Onwubuariri, Nwawuba Henry and of course their colleague, Deacon Chike Okafor who doubles as both the wife of the proprietress and Chairman Board of Directors. Others included the guest speaker, Dr Kasarachi Innocent, parents of the graduating students, Clergymen , academicians, among others.
While delivering her speech the wife of the Governor Mrs Nneoma Nkechi Okorocha, applauded the school management for setting up overflowing standard in Imo state education , she specifically showered encomiums on the school proprietress Deaconess Mrs Akudo Okafor, for her love in children which she said was the major reason behind many successes so far recorded by the the school.
The chairman of the Occasion Chief Ugwumba Uche Nwosu, represented by Dr Tony Uzoma Anwuka, opined that the mountain crest School Owerri is today a household name in the state because of the quality of education the school has continued to bequeath to her pupils, urging the school management to maintain the tempo as they are invariably helping the government in building a solid foundation for the society which our future generations will be very proud of, recapping that they shouldn't relent in their vision of changing the society through sound and qualitative education which they are known for.
The high point of the event was the potent display of side attractions by pupils of the school such as Drama presentations, special presentation by the school Canadian partners etc. The school management gave out meritorious awards to some of the graduands who have in one way or the other distinguished themselves above board. They equally used the opportunity to unveil the school magazine to the general public for the first time since the inception of the school which will now be at domicile of the school.
Sir Ejiogu used the occasion to urge "all parents to take up the responsibility of ensuring they give their children the very best. For according to him our future lays in their hands and how we raise them today is how they will take care of us tomorrow."
