You could recall the policeman, the only survivor of the armed robbery attack on the Owerri branch of Zenith bank who cried out for help.
Sergeant Muran Attang Otu who sustained injuries during the gun battle with four armed robbers in February, 2017 while on duty at the bank lost one of his eyes and is reported to require N3m for surgery.
Attang who told Ifeanyicy.com in an exclusive interview on Saturday June 10th, that he was hit in the eye during the encounter with the robbers.
He said he was told by doctors that there were bullets still lodged in his skull and his jaw; and that he needed urgent surgeries to have them removed.
Speaking to a blog reporter from Ifeanyicy.com, Sergeant Otu revealed that he had already had a surgery to take out his eyes and install a prosthesis, added that he had paid for his treatment all by himself, while he also cares for his family even in his sick state.
He revealed further that after the shootout, the three injured policemen were first taken to the Federal Medical Centre, Owerri, where one of them, Sergeant Chukwudi Iboko, died.
The remaining two were then transferred to the Police Clinic where Sergeant Sunday Agbo, a second officer, also died.
The lone survivor acknowledged that Zenith Bank had provided N400,000 for their treatment while the injured policemen were at the FMC Owerri; and the bank also provided another N200,000 for their care while they were at the Police Clinic.
He said that since then, he has been left to take care of himself. Attang however expressed regrets that no word about the promotion has been heard again despite the death of his colleagues.
The injured policeman revealed further that appeals to the management of Zenith Bank at Wetheral Road, Owerri where they were attacked by the armed robbers had yielded no result.
Reacting swiftly to the report from Ifeanyicy.com which went viral, the management of Zenith Bank contacted the Imo State Police Command and Sergeant Attang and promised to take care of his medical bills for the surgery.
The delta born police officer, married with three children was in high spirit as Ifeanyicy.com gathered that, Zenith Bank has fulfilled their promise to take care of his medical expenses.
Ifeanyicy.com reliably gathered that the branch manager of Zenith Bank, wethedral road, owerri, on behalf of the Zenith Bank Plc, had invited Sergeant Attang and assured him that the bank will take full responsibility for his Medical bills and sponsor his skull surgery. We gathered also that the sum of three million two hundred thousand (N3.2m) has been transferred to a medical facility responsible for the skull/brain surgery, to facilitate the removal of bullets stocked the Sergeant's head.
Meanwhile, the Inspector General Police in a press statement made available and gathered by Ifeanyicy.com, assured the police readiness to promote both Sergeant Attang and two others post-mortem.
Sergeant Muran Attang Otu and family will be going for Thanksgiving on Sunday, 30 July in Owerri, Imo State to thank God for saving his life and giving him and family the strength to overcome the trauma associated with the February Zenith Bank Four-man Armed Robbery attack which saw to the death of two of his colleagues, may their soul rest in peace.
