The battle over who becomes the maiden champion of the Ugwumba Uche Nwosu Unity Football Competition will be decided this Sunday July 16, 2017 at the Dan Anyiam stadium, Owerri.
The final of the tournament involving the 27 Local Government Areas of Imo State being sponsored by Chief Uche Nwosu, the Chief of Staff to Governor Rochas Okorocha at the Imo State Government House, Owerri is between Ehime-mbano LGA and a semi-professional football club, ISOPADEC Fc powered by the Imo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ISOPADEC) choosen to make the number of the participating team an even number of 28.
According to the local organizing Committee, the final will be proceeded by the 3rd place match same venue by 2pm between Mbaitoli and Ngor-Okpala LGA's.
On their way to the final, ISOPADEC edged out Mbaitoli LGA after they came from behind to eventually win the first semifinal tie via penalty kicks while Ngor Okpala fell to the superior powers of the lads from Ehime-mbano also through the gamble and lottery of penalties.
The one month old championship designed to fish out talents in the 27 LGA's when concluded will see 5 selected best players sponsored to undertake trials in Europe by the donor Ugwumba Uche Nwosu to pursue a professional carrier.
Winner of the final encounter are expected to go home with the sum of N1m while the first runners up (2nd place) team, second runners -up (3rd place) team will pocket N750, 000 and N500 000 respectively just as others will get consolation prizes and individual prizes.
