Crisis has continued to engulf the main opposition party, All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers state following the conduct of party's local government congress in the state.
It was gathered that the congress was marred by allegations of diversion of materials by some top party stalwarts.
There were claims that electoral materials for the congress in some local government area were diverted by persons said to be loyal to the Minister of Transportation who took materials to to popular Novatel Hotel and manipulated them.
Worsening the not too healthy political development in the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Rivers state which has degenerated as armed militants allegedly imported by Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi on Saturday was reported to have unleashed mayhem on the supporters of Magnus Abe in Eleme, Ikwerre, Ahoada West, Emohua , Asari Toru and Degema.
The armed militants purportedly backed by Personnel of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) shot sporadically at different congress venues, carting away materials to the homes of Amaechi supporters.
As at the time of filing this report, officials of the APC are at the popular Novotel Hotel in Rivers State compiling the list of delegates on the guidance of former Governor, Amaechi's associates led by Asita Asita.
Already, Amaechi's political estranged political associate, Senator Magnus Abe has issued a protest statement. He said that the congress will not stand because of the fraud perpetrated by the Minister of Transportation.
Attempts to reach the Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer, Nnamdi Omoni for his comments were unsuccessful as his line was switched off.
