Yesterday, the Presidency released President Muhammadu Buhari’s voice message to Nigerians to debunk reports that he is suffering from speech impairment. For months now, there have been reports in the social media claiming that the President is suffering from speech impairment and memory loss. In the record which was aired yesterday by some radio stations, including the BBC, the President was heard felicitating with Nigerians on the occasion of Eid-el Fitr, thanked them for their consistent prayers for his well-being.
However, there are speculations that that is not Buhari's voice. And on the other hand, Nigerians are asking why the president should address his people in Hausa. Reno Omokiri, a former aide of President Goodluck described the voice message as an 'outrage.'
He wrote on twitter:
“President Buhari is the President of all Nigeria.
“He is not the President of only those who can speak/understand Hausa!
“This is an outrage!”
