The seemly frosty relationship between the Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha and Senator Ifeanyi Araraume is entering a dangerous dimension.

A clear indication that the love between the duo has worsened last weekend when one of the Senator's daughters wedded the son of former Governor of Plateau State, Joshua Dariye at an elaborate ceremony in Abuja.

At the event which witnessed the timber and caliber of people in the society especially the political class, the Governor was absent like-wise members of his cabinet.  While other state governors and powerful politicians graced the event, Imo State Governor was conspicuously absent.

Irrespective of the presence of Araraume's son, Ifeanyi Araraume Jnr, in Okorocha’s cabinet, the Governor and his Rescue Mission followers kept away in a manner that sent tongues wagging that all is not well in the APC family in Imo State.

Sources revealed that absence of the governor and his lieutenants may not be unconnected to the expected battle for 2019 Governorship contest.

The coming race for who takes over after Okorocha is said to have pitched Okorocha against Araraume believed to be warming up for the next general election. Judging from development in APC camp in Imo, the battle for who gets the ticket will be between Araraume and Okorocha which the later has informed the public that the former is interested in  becoming Governor.

But the body language of the governor appears not to be favourable disposed to having Araraume.  On various occasions, Okorocha has dismissed the chances of those above 50 years becoming his successor.  This aspect is causing serious disaffection in the APC fold. The absence of the governor however confirmed the wide gulf between Okorocha and Araraume.
