Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha has stated it clearly that what he built at the Goverrnment House is a chapel, for christain worship, and not a mosque like many have opined.
His Excellency made this declaration at the recent visit of His Eminence, Dr. Samuel Kalu Uche. Chief Okorocha said that the chief reason why he embarked on the project was that Imo is associated with many deities such as Amadioha, Nworie, and Otammiri. According to him, this decision was aimed at rebranding the State.
“There was also systematic handover of the state to deities. I came in, and I said I have come to bring light and that light has come with our project scattered all over the nooks and crannies of the state. We have embarked on urban renewal and have to remove shanties and create the eight lane roads you are seeing now, though with challenges from the elites. But today, people are happy.”
