The Arch Bishop of Owerri Ecclesiastical Province, Most Rev Anthony Obinna has stated that only with total commitment to Christ in the Holy Spirit, Christians can live beyond deadly bondage of corruption, criminality and terrorism as experienced in Nigeria.

Bishop Obinna revealed this during a media chat in his office at the Assumpta Cathedral, Owerri while delivering his Easter message tagged "Living Beyond Deadly Bondage" adding that to live permanently with the Spirit of Christ is to be exemplary in fellowship with God and in character.

He maintained that reasons for the worship of Jesus Christ originated from his triumph over death and proclamation of his resurrection by his apostles and disciples.

He recalled that the name of Jesus Christ reached and raced into our Igbo-Nigeria-Africa environment breaking ancestral and contemporary chains of bondage, that's why Christians are no longer infested and infected with myriads of deities, spirits and the arusi-divide among Igbo's, giving way to new creation of humans.

The Bishop opined that the heart of corruption is criminality, pointing that as long as immunity exist for Governors and leaders in Nigeria, impunity will continue to hold sway with most elections in the country flooded with continued rigging keeping the nation backward instead of been "Bankward" as the set standard of creativity and productivity are carried out in an honest way.

He postulated that churches plays a role of formation and persuasion, noting that living beyond deadly bondage recognizes that only those with the Spirit of Christ can bring about positive changes in our country as he promised to reawaken the prayers for "upright voting, accurate counting and impartial announcements of election results" next year.

The arch Bishop prayed for the resurrecting presence of our Lord Jesus Christ to fill and possess Christians, anew with the virtues that uphold Godliness and nullifies the grip of vice around us.

In a swift response, the Chairman, Nigerian Union of Journalist NUJ, Imo State chapter, Mr Innocent Igwe thanked  Bishop AJV Obinna for repositioning the mind of Christians through his Easter message which he described as possessing practical essence, he appreciated his continued efforts to Christendom in Imo and the south east in general.
