The governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has reacted swiftly, nipping from the bud, a deadly media war set out against him by the APC chieftain and 2019 gubernatorial hopeful, senator Ifeanyi Araraume.
The former Senator, who left PDP during the 2015 gubernatorial election to form political alliance with Okorocha, which helped the Ogboko chief to consolidate on power, by winning his reelection has vowed to wrestle power from Okorocha come 2019 governorship election.
It has been severally reported that Governor, Okorocha who was desperate to win 2015 re-election, promised the political strong man of Isiebu, in Isiala Mbano Local Government Araa of support to realise his ambition of being Imo Governor by handing over to him in 2019.
But recent political developments were Okorocha was alleged to have told Araraume to forget 2019 gubernatorial election, and join him in Abuja to play national politics and his rumoured plan to handover to his son-in-law from Orlu Zone has angered the 2007, 2011 and 2015 gubernatorial candidate of various political party, Senator Ifeanyi Godwin Araraume. The senator was said to have kicked off the campaign to checkmate Okorocha by deploying media war and propaganda against the Chairman of All Progressive Governor's Forum, Okorocha.
It was alleged that the crisis currently rocking the Independent Newspaper Publishers Association, INPA, in Imo State were indirectly caused by Araraume who was reported to had secretly sponsored their current media attack on Okorocha, demanding for him to give account of his stewardship and what he used all money he collected from Federal government to do.
Araraume who was alleged to have given the body, INPA, two million Naira (N2,000 0000), necessitating their recent media demands on Okorocha, wasn't taken lightly by Okorocha who used his Chief Press Secretary to surmorn the body and succeeded in dividing them into two faction.
