In fulfilment of his promise six years ago during the 2011 Iri Ji Obinugwu Festival, HRH Eze (Dr.) Cletus Ikechukwu Illomuanya, the Obi of Obinugwu has bounced back as the Chairman of Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers.  This is even as the All Progressive Congress (APC) Chairman in Imo State,  Chief Hilary Ekeh has rendered a written unreserved apology to the  monarch over defamatory publications against him.

Eze Illomuanya's return was sequel to a directive from the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Mohammadu Buhari that he be reinstated immediately in obedience to several Court Judgement . A letter from the President, delivered through the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mallam Mallam Abubakar, SAN dated November 10, 2016, informed the monarch of the development. According to the letter with reference No. PEI/CRD/3276/1/18, Eze Illomuanya was informed that Governor Rochas Okorocha has been communicated of the decision through another letter signed by the Solicitor General of the Federation and Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Justice, Taiwo Abidogun Esq.

Abidogun's directive to Okorocha to reinstate Eze Illomuanya as Chairman of Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers made copious reference to the Court of Appeal Judgement of July 5, 2013, which quashed the Governor's dissolution of the Council under Eze Ilomuanya's  Chairmanship and subsequently removed him from office.

The Solicitor General of the Federation's letter with reference No. PEC/CRD/3276/1/177  to Okorocha in part that state  " I hereby request your Excellency to be guided by the judgement of the Court of Appeal by reversing the dissolution of the Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers to reinstate HRH Eze (Dr.) C.I. Ilomuanya, CON, as the Council Chairman."
