The Senate has Wednesday rejected the nomination of Mr. Ibrahim Magu as the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Magu who has being the top man of the anti-graft Agency for over one year now, albeit in acting capacity needed to be confirmed by the Red Chamber before his appointment can become substantive but in a prepared text read out to journalists after today's closed door session, the Senate's spokesperson, Aliyu Sabi, said they were not comfortable with the security reports brought before it on the person of Mr Magu, hence, requested the President to immediately replace him as the Chairman of the Commission.
Meantime, the Senate confirmed the nomination of four other members who were nominated by the President to make up the board of the Commission.
Recall, that the acting EFCC boss was allegedly eased out of the Nigerian Police Force in controversial circumstances during the past administration, but was drafted in over a year ago to head Nigeria's foremost anti-graft agency, EFCC, even though there were loud voices raised against such decision by the President.
