Three young men in their early twenties who specialized in neighborhood criminal activities were set ablaze by a mob for allegedly stealing a motorcycle in Amata community in the Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo state.
An eyewitness account told our correspondent that the young men were indigenes of the community who had terrorized the the residents of the community before they met their doom.
According to the source, the alleged criminals whose identities were yet to be identified as of the time of filling this report had snatched the motorcycle from a commercial motorcyclist from the Amata narrow road in the morning and zoomed off.
The owner of the motorcycle was said to had contacted his Co motorcyclists through a telephone call who thereafter mobilised and went after the suspects.
The source averred that the young men were rounded up by the motorcyclists after a hot chase at the boundary between them and a numbering community.
On rounding up the suspects, the eyewitness said that the motorcyclists on sighting the young men wasted no time in setting them ablaze on the ground that they were notorious faces that had been perpetrating criminal activities in the community.
He said "immediately the motorcyclists caught the boys who were on a high speed with the stolen motorcycle , they wasted no time in setting them ablaze with fuel and tyre. They said that the boys had been terrorizing the community and causing everybody sleepless nights ".
A text message sent to the police Public Relations Officer in the state, Andrew Enwerem, to confirm the incident was not responded to neither did he answer his calls as of the time of filing this report.
