It was a mind blowing display of acrobatic dancing artistry woven into original Nigerian dancing pattern by the combined team of participants and floats at the just concluded Imo Carnival tagged 'Imo My Pride Carnival 2016'

This year's event came with a bang with so many people especially the talented and ever creative Imo Youths and students getting involved. Imo State government political appointees also took it up as a challenge to develop the latent potentials in our youth as carnival art offers us a dynamic tool for self-expression, self-discovery and cultural re-orientation.

The carnival contest last night was full of  intrigues as different bands /floats performances at the Heroes’ Square, venue of the carnival, get all thrilled, even the First families of Imo state and Cross River state, His Excellencies, Rochas Okorocha and Prof Ben Ayede, Chairman of Zinox Computer, Sir Leo Stan Ekeh and the crowd couldn't help but to watch various performances with rap attention and intermittent thunderous applause and repeated standing ovations. Indeed Imo was placed on world’s tourism and hospitality map!

However, the mesmerizing team/float of Imo state Deputy Governor, Prince Eze Madumere stubbornly put up a fight that shot them to the apogee of the ladder as they emerged the overall best, followed by the band/ float of Imo State House of Assembly led by the Deputy Speaker, Hon Ugonna Ozurigbo which came second and the third position went to the float of Niger Delta Region of Ohaji Egbema and Oguta LGAS represented by the Deputy Chief of Staff Operation, Hon Kingsley Chima Uju.

The Governor of Imo State whose band also put up an intimidating performance with well over 700 man squared but lost, mustered the courage to reward the first, second and third runners up with cash gift of 10 million, 5 million and 2 million naira respectively as promised before kick off of the carnival.

It's worthy to note that more than 5 thousands Imo Youths and Students went home smiling as each participant in the carnival were paid between 10k to 20k naira depending on role he/she played in their respective floats/bands.

The atmosphere which were conclusively rounded up around 5am the next day (Today Thursday 22nd December 2016)  had the presence and performance from music superstars and acts sensation like Psquare, Neto C, Dr Sid, Akachi, Drake, Acharaman and lots more.
It was indeed a night of glitz and glamour!
